It depends how much you want to spend.
If you can go to £320 you can get the Canon S95 which is jean pocket sized and give you excellent photos.
You don't need 14 megapixels in a compact camera....consider something with lower MP. Nikons Flagship D3 SLR only has 12 mp.
Past a certain point more megapixels doesn't mean better image quality.0 -
I agree with shopbot.
The quality of the optics is more important than the megapixel count. I've seen high quality pictures from a digital SLR with "only" a 6 megapixel sensor, but decent lenses.
List your requirements under essential and desirable and then look around to see what meets them.

Consider a Panasonic Lumix FS35. The lumix cameras consistently get good reviews and that one is £129 on Amazon.
Bear in mind you'll need a memory card though and it would be a good idea to carry a spare battery, so that will take it over budget. I imagine you could find one cheaper if you shop around.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. I bought the FS35 and a spare battery for £149 in total. Same SD card from my old camera.
Thanks guys.--
