Acer 6930g laptop screen cracked by itself

Put my laptop down, went to pick it up around 20 mins later and the screen was smashed! It doesn't appear to have an impact point, nobody went near it and nothing fell on it, it seems that it literally smashed itself. I've had a quick search on the internet and the crack is exactly the same as some other peoples who have said that the same happened to them. Question is, do Acer have to fix what would appear to be a known fault even though I've had the laptop over a year? http://www.avforums.com/forums/laptops-netbooks-tablets/1051801-acer-aspire-6930g-laptop-screen-cracked-its-own-2.html

It was from phones4u about 2 years ago. How on earth does a laptop screen crack itself?!?!?

I deal with Acer allot (infoteam) as my job were i work is dealing with faulty Acers from customers and logging them with Acer.

Acer will not be the slightest bit interested in fixing a cracked screen unless your willing to pay, they classify it as user damage.

I must admit, and can remember reading about this fault last year sometime that they was a problem with the Acer screens cracking very easy in hot conditions and was something to do with how the screen was manufactured but Acer refused to accept that there screens had a fault.

Happened to me too, with a netbook. Had no joy with Acer. I was incredibly frustrated to read countless reports of other people experiencing the same thing yet Acer continued to deny there was any issue at all and the cracking was down to customer misuse and expected the customer to pay for repair.

Collect all the information on people with the same fault and if Acer won't do anything contact Watchdog or Which to see if they will take the case up on your behalf.

Seems like I'm not alone. I'll be down at PC World with mine and refuse to leave until I get what I am entitled to.
