I take insulin pens. A letter from your doctor and a prescription (if you have one) is useful. Tell them at check-in and security, but epipens are not uncommon and they are probably used to them. Of course, you can check with your air-line and if they e-mail you a positive reply, print it out and take with you.

My sister takes a copy of her prescription but I don't think she's ever been questioned.

I take insulin pens & extra phials, I've got a doctors letter but never been asked for it or about the pens etc. Got stopped in KL at a scanner and the girl moved my insulin out of the way to confiscate a half empty bottle of water so she had seen them.0

Same as Deegee999, I've taken insulin & syringes and pens on planes many a time, always had a doctor's letter but never needed to show it. The staff must see lots of medical equipment and know what it is.Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.0

An American friend of mine was recently told he could not take his insulin and syringes on board a Cathay Pacific aircraft prior to a 14 hr flight (at Hong Kong). When he asked what would he do if he needed it during the flight, he was told that he should have a big injection beforehand to last him for the duration of the flight !!!!!!
He is now in "discussion" with senior management at CP.0
