I am sure the MOT charges are backdated anyway, regardless of how long has passed unless the vehicle has been declared SORN.
If you pay online or at the post office don't you need the paperwork?
    Hope this helps.

I think you have made a typo there as it would be back tax you have to pay (if action is taken against you), and tax which is payable online or at a post office.

An MOT will run from the date it is carried out in this case.

Just count yourself lucky you didn't get stopped by police/accident :D good luck with the MOT on Tues - I'd go for a taxi for the one day just to be safe! Or could you get another parent to pick your little ones up just for tomorrow?

(I have no other way to drop the little one and go work all within short timeframe!)?

they dont have taxis where you come from? personally i think you have a cheek you have been driving a car for months without an mot (fair enough you say u didnt know)but now you do your still considering driving your child in a car that may not be roadworthy ????? what if you crash and your car is found to be at fault?

youd be be worse than a drunk driver in my opionion and id throw the book at you

The reason I posted on here was to check if I was allowed to drive tomorrow when I have booked an appointment for Tuesday, if we all knew the answers to questions then obviously MSE wouldnt be a popular site!

As it is now clear (thanks to the users who answered my question) that I am not allowed to drive tomorrow, I wont be using the car and have made other arrangements. My question wasnt how to break the law, but to establish if I was going to be break the law, and obviously prevent doing this!

I shouldnt have to explain myself to you anyway, I came on here for guidance not to be compared to a drink driver!

  • Given the mot system is computerised I’m actually surprised they don’t send out fines in the post if you forget to get an mot when due

When everyone is covered by the electronic MOT that would be a possibility I would imagine but I have only recently got my first one so the scheme is not implemented 100% yet.

Thing is for most other things in life you get sent a reminder (car tax, tv licence, council tax) but for MOT you don't hence why people forget (including me !).
