For 45 pence more than those 1GB ones at SVC, you can get one with a five year guarantee which quotes data transfer rates and is made by a well known manufacturer here. Often those generic ones have very slow data transfer rates! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Maybe, but the Kingston one quotes "Data transfer rates of up 6MB/sec. read and up to 1.5MB/sec write"
Richard Culpan from Ely says "On the USB2 ports on my notebook PC it's somewhat slow in writing (around 2MB/sec - slower still if writing a lot of small files). Reading perfectly acceptable at around 10MB/sec."
Having a 5 year guarantee from a well know company can be good, but it can also be worth nothing.
A colleague bought a USB stick from a well known manufacturer which was DOA.
He sent it back to the retailer, who returned it told him to take it up with the maufacturer. Which he did and the manufacturer told him to sent it back to the retailer who would replace it for him.
He went round in circles until he gave up.
If you read Joe Dickinson from Wigan's review you will see SVP replace his drive simply because the cap was too tight!0
