Hi

Can anyone help, I am trying to make a PPi claim from HSBC for a Loan I had with them, but they say because the account it now closed and over 6 yrs old (its is only just) they cannot give me information on the account due to Data Protection, I banked with them for over 15 years my salary was paid in to them my morgage was paid out of the acc. How can I get my bank account number, I no longer have any letters/statements etc. I have been in the branch and rung complaint's dept and the just say sorry cannot get the details as they are wiped after so long for that DATA PROTECTION Argggg so angry :mad::(

Is it your bank account number or your loan account number you are trying to obtain?

You can send them a Subject Access Reuest(SAR) to your bank or to their head office with a payment of £10 and ask for all the data that they hold on you, or have held on you.

Some of the others will possibly give you some more info in regards to this, but there is a template letter for your SAR on the website.

It sounds like its too late, they are not obliged to keep information indefinetely.

I think Iv found my bank acc no. so this should make a difference now should it,
