Might be an idea to edit the thread title to something like "Internet access problem after moving from AOL to Sky" so others can help as well.
There are people here who'll be much better than me to troubleshoot connectivity problems over a forum; it's one of those things that would be eas(ier) in person but that I don't routinely get involved in helping online.
So some sites work for you but others don't? Are you currently connecting via the wireless, or are you using the network/ethernet cable? If you double click on the network icon, does it say anything about 'limited connectivity' or 'limited access'?
The Sky engineer got you to uninstall IE8, is that why you don't remember your old password to sitcom123?
Really I should troubleshoot from your connection to your computer, but might be an idea to rule out annoyances left behind by AOL.
Could you do the following batch file, then posts the logs:
http://www.users.on.net/~russ/reset.bat
After that, restart the machine.0 -
hope i have done this right,
I know the password to this site but for some reason wont accept it now
