I know Vanquis charges quite interest at 39.99 APR but I cannot see any other alternative to improve my credit history.
But have to make sure that I use only to build my credit history and pay off in full every month, I know its going to be difficult but, I've been living with out credit since last few year and I should be able to manage it as I have draw decent salary every month.

It is fine as long as you pay it every month in full. People talk about the 10000000% APR rate but totally ignore the fact that you will pay nothing if you clear the balance every month.

That's true but sadly, some people see credit cards as a form of 'free money' that doesn't have to be paid back, and others will indeed be sensible but not necessarily pay off the full amount. I'd say less than half of people with a Vanquis card actually pay the full amount off every month and therefore are charged these horrible rates.

Of course that is just my guess - but after all Vanquis is a card for those either new to credit or with bad credit in the past so many cardholders you wouldn't class as perfectly sensible with money.
I have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.

    hey,

I got declined by vanquis at the end of last year, I have defaults and an active ccj until next year. I started getting the invitations via e-mail and didnt apply, then I read about their new Aquis card and got approved the day after applying with 29.9% apr and a £1000 limit to start.

    Good luck
