Was this not scrapped about 3 years ago?

The last 7 bus leaves from town at 11pm and is a 7C.

It used to be a late night special bus service that left the city centre about 12.30/ 01.00 in the morning and covered most of the outskirts of the city (our eldest used to get it and it saved her on payin for a taxi).

Pretty sure it stopped a while back.

was that when people thought taxis weren't safe?
  • I think you must be right, last bus now 11pm
( not much good for my teenager!!).
    Cheaper alternative than taxi though.

I don't think many people used it, partly due to the fact that you had to buy your ticket in advance (understandable, I admit, from the driver's point of view) so you couldn't just hop on if you found yourself unexpectedly stranded on the night.
  • I think this service was suspended many years ago because everyone on it was totally blocked and there was too much violence/puking etc

It's not that taxis weren't safe it was that you could never get one for love nor money

I used to hate asking if a taxi driver would go to the East. The inevitable answer was no as he put his foot on the noisy pedal. Finally found out the reason was due to the large number of traffic lights making the journey long and uneconomical. Much more profitable to do a couple of short minimum fare trips to the student areas than get vulnerable young women home safe!

Isn't it done buy time now?.....Well I heard that both religions work side by side in the city centre (North street) and there was no confrontations

Tell you what though, doesn't it say something about the translink website that this info is still on it even though it is years out of date. And no one so far has even thought to comment on this because we all just accept that the translink website is s**t. Imagine there are visitors to NI who actually rely on this site for information about how to travel around the place! I tried to use it for something last week and ended up getting a taxi because the site wouldn't give me the info and the tel no was constantly engaged. As for the journey planner, it's almost comically bad. They really do need to get their act together!
