Hi all, hope someone can help,
We've got an old acer aspire desktop (SA85-F870), and it has recently decided that it doesnt want to start up.
On pressing the power button, it switches on, displays the ACER screen briefly, then screen goes black and displays 'Verifying DMI pool data.....................update success', then screen just goes black. Thats where it stops.
Ive cleaned out the CPU fan & heatsink which were choked with fluff, the CPU fan runs & the PSU fan runs. Ive tried swapping the RAM's around, removing one at a time which makes no difference, if I power up with no RAM installed it beeps continuously. The hard drive seems to be spinning.
Now im snookered, any help would be appreciated. Cheers all

On start-up before it reaches the DMI pool try pressing f8 to get into Safe Mode0

ok i did that, tried starting in safe mode but still nothing happened0

Do you still have the OS disk? If so, try get to your BIOS setup by pressing F1 or F2 and changing the boot sequence so that your optical disk drive is the first priority. Save and exit and hopefully it will boot from the disk first so that you can do a repair from the disk.
See how that goes.0 -
