Microsoft xp trial

I downloaded the Windows XP 64 trial 2 weeks ago because I'm home from uni and the pc was in need of a reformat, and i left the original disk at home. I thought i'd install the trial to last until i get back to uni. It says clearly on the download site that the trial is 120 days, which is ample for what i needed.
Yesterday however, I try to login and get told that the trial is over and to buy a new copy of windows!!! No warnings about it or anything, just locked me out of my pc!! I'm furious because i need the programs i installed to do uni work and to just shut me out like this is shocking.
Does anyone have the number for microsoft customer services or something that i can ring and complain to?

this may not work and may be stupid but what happens if you change the date on your pc back a couple of weeks?

Is your university a member of the MSDNAA? If so, you may be able to get a free copy of Windows XP.

If your computer savvy, you could get a linux iso, burn it to CD and boot up. This will enable you to recover the data off the partition.(I dont believe you can plug XP drives into other XP machines).

If it's a laptop then I can do it for you if you send me your hard drive...

Cheers for that guys. In the end i got a copy of XP from a mate, installed it to the same drive and it just overrote the windows on there, kept my documents and everything. I just had to reinstall all the programs, but my data was all intact!
