    Sorry but your post seems to come over as elitist and putting down people who pay in less than £1000 a month:( . Like many people I am in part time employment having family responsibilties.:) My oh pay goes into a separate bank account so to maximise the interest payable on my current account I switch between savings and current account. I am not desperate just playing the game. How can banks determine if cash is external to the institution if you pay in cash? They could if they were so inclined with myself see it coming from my halifax savings account but they have never queried it in previous years so I doubt they will start now.

    Me paying in just under £1k per month doesn't seem to put the Halifax off trying to sell me things constantly.
