Hey, I'm in a bit of a tiz, my mouse pad on my laptop has just stopped working. I'm using a usb mouse at the moment but I'm used to the track pad and I'd like to get it working again. Its a synaptics device on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo laptop. Any ideas?
Thanks
Thanks

does it work in safe mode? Is it enabled in the bios? Has the laptop been dropped, causing the connector to come loose? Have you tried a system restore?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Did your mouse occasionally drift across the screen, from time to time before it failed? Or was the failure sudden and unexpected? Synaptics touchpads in many of our work Dell laptops (e.g. Latitudes) a few years ago exhibited this behaviour, and since these were all still under Dell's warranty, we had them replaced.
Sometimes a newer Synaptics TouchPad driver would help - I suggest you check the Fujitsu Siemens support site for your laptop drivers, and install the latest version available. If this doesn't help, you may need to contact Fujitsu Siemens for it to be replaced, if the laptop is still under warranty.0 -
Thanks for the replies, the laptop hasn't had a knock or a bang, I was using it and it just stopped without warning. This happened before but I formated the pc and reinstalled xp and it has worked fine since, its a little weird as I haven't installed any new software in a while. Thanks for the advise though, fingers crossed I'll get it sorted without a reformat. Cheers._________0

Look in Device Manager under Mice and other pointing devices and make sure it is showing there and working. Right-click on it and scan for hardware changes. Some laptops start Synaptics programs in Msconfig, so check there too.0
