Where to go for high-end designer labels at bargain prices?

Options
One of the suggestions I've been given is Italy. I've been looking on the web and found a place in New York called Woodbury Common. Anyone been there?

I would welcome all suggestions and specific shopping malls. Ideally Gucci and Fendi at great reductions, please.

Have had a great moneysaving year in 2004 where I held back and bought no clothes or shoes (well, very few) and now need new stuff for work and some casuals - and of course two or three handbags ;-)

Thanks

Have just returned from New York. We didn't go to Woodbury Common, but went to Century 21 which is a store that is based right next to the World Trade Centre Site.

Century 21 sold some designer stuff at relativly cheap prices, had some lovely Stella McCartney shoes for approx £75. This is all the stuff that is last season, but if you are prepared to look and rummage then you can pick up some bargains.

New York shopping is soooo cheap compared to the UK anyway, I was truly amazed at how "little" everything costs! Pretty much everything (except French Connection stuff) was half the cost it is in the UK. And with the current exchange rate, it really is a bargain.

If you want real designer bags and shoes, there are places called sample sales in New York, that sell the latest designer wear (shoes and bags) at duty free prices. I found 2 pairs of the new seasons Prada shoes for £100 each and the new blue burberry check handbag for £110 in this little jem of a shop I came across.

If you don't mind the cough, cough "fake" designer bags, wallets, sun glasses and belts, then head to Canal Street in China Town. I purchased 3 "designer" handbags whilst I was there, a Gucci, and 2 Prada's for less than £50 and the quality of them is excellent. Everyone is convinced that they are real, and I have had problems convincing them otherwise! Plus, buying them is an experience, all very hush hush.

Just make sure your not Wayne Rooneys girlfriend!!!

you may like to try Bicester Village Outlet shopping (Oxfordshire). up to 70% off top high-end designer labels. It's starting to get very popular especially on Saturday and Sundays, (week days are alot quieter). Web site can be found very easy on Google search engine.

We went to Woodbury Common - quite expensive greyhound bus tickets (about 30 quid each if I remember correctly) but well worth it if you want to spend. Got some great bargains there and they do have a Fendi (bought some cheap socks!) and Gucci outlet store. However the best two stores when I was there were the Armani store which had a huge shoe sale (lovely shoes for aprox. 50 quid) and the Saks Fifth Avenue factory store where I bought some Jimmy Choo boots for just under £100.

When we went it was very deep snow there (over the knee where it hadnt been cleared) although there was no snow in NY when we set off. Therefore the place was deserted but all shops open we had the whole place practically to ourselves. I dont know how busy it would get normally. Probably best to go on a weekday.

I also agree with Aimee that Century 21 is a fabulous place its a bit like TKMaxx but for all kinds of designer finds from Nine West etc right through to Gucci and Fendi. My boyfriend got a Ralph Lauren Wool coat for under 70 quid and Nike trainers less than 20. I bought some Gucci suit trousers oh and some Gucci sunglasses discarded on the shelf in the basement were $5!!!!!!

New York is a shoppers paradise, if you go you will have a great time!!

New York for sure, especially day after Thanksgiving as loads of sales start.

I really do not think you can beat Century 21 for its very reasonable prices and Canal Street is great for very good fakes.

Century 21 it is then! I'll give the Oxford place a try too. I've been to an outlet shopping mall in Ashford, Kent but am getting bored of the place now.

Now I need to find a reasonably priced ticket to New York. Better check out the travel board.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions.

    Hi Milky-Mocha,

Personally I wouldn't go all the way to new york to visit century 21..

It's ok, but it's essentially a larger TK maxx, thats a bit better organised. You may well find high-end fashion, but it will be last seasons fashion.

Also, there are no changing rooms. You have to buy everything first, then try it on maybe in the toilets, or the toilets of a nearby reastaurant. (Startbucks has a nice big toilet by the way lol)

Sorry to put a downer on it, just tryin to save you time and money!

There sales are very good (went early April few years back), Macy's in particular, there is a thread about an 11% discount card, avoid UK and European brands as they are more expensive.
