Insurance quotes and credit searches

As for many people, I've been searching for the best car insurance deal and looking at quotes for several cars that I might be interested in buying. I've noticed however that a few companies leave a footprint on credit file. Some state "Unrecorded enquiry" whilst others say "Insurance quotation" as the application type.

I've heard people say that these don't affect credit scores, but one has produced an alert. Because I'm looking at several cars, all in different circumstances (with or without another driver, comp or TP etc etc), then there's going to be a good number of searches, and now I'm worried about these knocking my credit file down even further.

Should I worry?

Hi, from past experience it would seem that 'unrecorded enquiry' , 'insurance quotation' and 'generic search/enquiry' are only visible to you and cannot be seen by anyone else who is checking your file.

What did the alert say, was it still recorded in one of the above terms ?

No they are soft searches that have no impact on your credit rating
