Has anyone told that garage that someone has their stock on ebay in what seems a scam? And reported it to ebay/the police?
Photo stolen from an ad from the aformentioned garage - http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...d56yym&ct=clnk0 -
I doubt you could report it to the police as no crime has been committed yet. The person selling 'could' own the car and 'could' be selling it at that price; they've just used pictures from the previous seller.0 -
They could have used pictures from the previous seller, but on the advert from the garage, the mileage was over 80,000...0

I've reported a few of these 'scam' adverts on Gumtree and Ebay and all have been removed in the past, if something looks too good to be true, it usually is too good to be true.

I know Im naive, but can someone explain how this would work? I mean, to have the front to put it on a site like that - would anyone really part with money before actually seeing the car and buying it?0

Sadly, yes.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

I think the RAC and AA call it a 'paper car' scam.
The car is usually advertised at approx half it's value, the owner will live abroad but the 'car' is in the UK, the photo will be a 'rip off' from someone elses advert. They always want you to contact them by email as opposed to ebay or phone. The clues are all there, read up about it.
Nobody, I repeat nobody, would sell a perfectly good car for half its value. Most people want as much as they can get, not half what it's worth. If you had a really nice car and you wanted to sell it for half its value you don't have to advertise, just go down to your local car lot, chances are they'd buy it.
