Your policy will tell you what you need to know.
mine says something like I must tell them....
Before changing car or allowing a new driver
Immediately on change of address or incidents that might give rise to a claim
At renewal for convictions0 -
you must tell your insurance but if you want to sort it out yourself you can tell them you are informing them for information purposes only.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

I would inform your insurance immediately. My son was in a similar situation to yours. Paint scratch to their car and no damage to his car but the people in the car in front have both put in personal injury claims.0
