Tesco Value shampoo, conditioner & shower gel

I have searched and could only find a thread about these from back in 2007, so I think they may well be new and improved by now
My question is, does anyone use these and are they OK? I bought a litre of TV shampoo for 62p this evening as my herbal essences has ran out and I have hardly any money to spare ... quite hesitant to use it

I use the conditioner and actually choose it because I like it now (I started buying it when I was broke!) its not heavy and doesn't make my hair lank, and I like the smell too. I have very sensitive skin and can only use certain shampoos but this conditioner suits me perfectly.0

Use it, it's fine.
Back in the day that's what we all used, basic shampoo.
In the per-80s era, there was little choice of shampoos, Vosene was the one to buy then, remember the Wash & Go revolution...
When my stash from last year's Tesco John Freida glitch has run out I'll no doubt use it, got a couple of year's worth left yet thoughI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

And we all want to go back to 1980s hair ...

I'm always nervous of using new shampoos since I tried a perfectly innocent Lush shampoo that stripped most of the colour from my hair.
I've found the more basic shampoos do actually suit mine best.'til the end of the line0 -
Is it a 3-in-1? I accidentally picked up a pink bottle of what I thought was just shampoo, called 'Strawberry Shortcake'. It actually has a recipe for one down the side which I was drawn to :P anyway it turns out it is a shampoo, shower gel AND bubble bath in one
and it doesn't smell like strawberries, it smells plastic-y. Other than that experience, I find cheaper shampoos to not be too bad, shower gels under a pound are definitely as nice as the more expensive ones. The only irk with cheap shampoos is how runny they are meaning you end up pouring too much out into your hand than if it was thicker.

Wow! What a price leap, TV and Sainsbury's Basics shampoos (identical bottle and product by all appearances) were only 22p a few weeks ago. I know because I have been buying it to use on lightly soiled stuff/delicates in my washing machine to make my washing powders last longer!
There is nothing wrong with it, use with confidence. No need to use loads either, use it economically, better for your purse and hair.
Have a look at this too though if you've got a Boots Advantage card as Dove shampoo, Conditioner and Bodywash is coming out at 43p each atm and a little goes a l-o-n-g way with this particular product!
If you're really skint, consider abandoning shower gel and going back to using tablet soap.0 -
I bought a bottle of Tesco value conditioner to use when my daughter had head lice. I found it much easier to use for combing out the lice than the much more expensive conditioner she normally uses.
When we got her clear of lice there was a thrid left in the conditioer bottle and so I used it up on my own hair. To my surprise I found it really suited my hair and now I buy it from choice. It is quite runny but with my straight hair I find that an advantage because it coats the hair well. Thicker conditioners tend to make my hair go fluffy.0 -
I have used the Tesco Value shampoo for years. It is fine. It is cheap but shampoo should be cheap: the ingredients cost next to nothing. I am convinced that premium brands are shockingly expensive simply because of marketing costs and the need to maintain an image. Some folks are reassured by expensive prices, apparantly.
I also use Tesco value toothpaste ... which has also shot up in price lately from 17p to 30p per 100 ml.0 -
Thank you all - after reading your comments I jumped in the shower and used it - now all blowdried and I can't believe what a fab job its done!!! I have highlighted hair (thanks Groupon!) so was worried it would make it dry but its not been this soft in ages, its blowdried better, is less fluffy .... I am a convert!0

Its fine, its basically a bog standard sulphate shampoo that will cleanse the hair perfectly well, it will in fact clarify your hair making it squeeky clean because it hasn't all the extra "stuff" that will contribute to build up. If you have fragile hair I would recommend diluting it in a jug . The value conditioners are ok in a pinch but they tend not to have silicones which give the nice slip which you get with something like HE. If you have some olive oil you can use a TINY TINY amount rubbed between your palms and smoothed over the ends which may give you some added slinkiness.0
