I need help deciding what to do about bank account(s)

My partner and I are hoping to rent a place together soon so have decided to have an account which the bills and rent etc will come out of. We will both transfer a proportion of our wages into the account each month. We have both just got jobs and so are planning on starting this asap so at least we build up a bit of a buffer. It won't be a joint account (it will most likely be in my name).
I will earn £1300 a month and the account I currently have is a graduate account with a £1000 interest free overdraft. I have been looking at the info on here to see which ones are better. The 'reward' ones will be no good for this purpose as there will only be about £600 a month going into the account.
I was thinking that alongside opening a new account for this purpose, it might also be worth me changing my personal account to one of these reward accounts but I'm not sure if it will be worth the hassle. I don't want to lose my current account as the overdraft is handy for emergencies.
Is it worth me opening one of the reward accounts to get my wages paid into it, then also open another current account for our 'joint' account and transferring 1/3 of my wages into this account each month? Or is it going to get too complicated having accounts with different banks? What would you do?
