Budgat Car Insurance cancellation

Hi,
I wondered if someone can help I have recently sold my car and no longer require my policy so contacted budget who told me as I have had the policy for 6 months I will be charged £200.70 a £160 fee and £40 cancellation fee. I have told them this is ridiculous and refused to pay saying I will cancel the direct debit and wont pay. They stated that due to agreeing to the terms and conditions I will still need to pay and they will pass onto debt recovery.
My argument was I ha ve no car am not transferring the policy so no longer require it! I wanted to know if I am screwed and will need to pay  or do I have a case??

Have been told that someone had similar problem asked the debt recovery for a signed copy of the contract and never heard from them! Could I try that??0

I may try that one!! Might frighten them away lol0

When you take out monthly insurance, it is paid in 12 months by a credit company, you buy 12 months insurance that they let you pay on a credit agreement monthly, it matters not if you want all 12 months or not.
They do sell 3,6,9,12 month policiesHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
