Hi guys
I need some advice with a ongoing deal ive had with barclays bank 5 weeks i went into branch and opened a account/ isa and was supposedly sold a life insurance policy with aviva through them ok so the fun began i recieved my card and all my details all very good and quick changed my wages to them etc etc 2 days later i recieve a letter saying they had closed my account and they would never let me bank with them in the future i had 4 days to change eveything back... So i did this and i never thought anything about but and here is the stinger i started recieving letters about bank charges from them ok so i went in today and they told me the account was still open due to the charges in it. So i asked what the charges were for and they said it was for the isa not being covered and also because of the life insurance how can for a start the isa be requesting money if it was closed 4 weeks ago?? And also charges for my life insurance ok i want to point out at his point i never accepted this or signed for this in anyway shape or form but they still set it up for me i went into the branch today to be told they didnt need a signature?? Is this true i was made to feel so low today by the bank manager. Can anyone please give advice on what i should do i dont think i should be held accountable for theses charges when i have a letter that states my bank account with them was closed..

Make a formal complaint, link to complaints procedure below:-

I would always suggest a well worded* letter with supporting documentation, sent recorded delivery, is this best way to keep everything on record.
*Sentences, paragraphs, correct punctuation and grammer - things your post is severely lacking in. Use bullet points to concisely lay out the crux of your complaint, and also what you expect them to do to resolve the matter.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
Yeah
Sorry about my grammar i have to do this on my mobile until my internet is active in 2 weeks.
Do you think i have a genuine complaint and its worth chasing up. Thanks for your help.0 -

You can complain about (nearly) anything you like. The previous poster has provided a link to obtaining the procedure. I suggest you make the complaint in writing (or email if allowed). If you are contacted by phone I strongly suggest you decline to discuss and insist on a written (or email) response otherwise you will end up with no real record of what was discussed (even if there is a tape).
There is more than one issue going on here. The promptness of the account closure is a very severe sanction usually reserved for issues such as fraudulent applications.
I am not being judgemental but can you think of any reason?
Before submitting the complaint, look carefully at the account Terms and Conditions, particularly the section on account closure (by the bank). Make sure your treatment has been 100% in accordance with the Terms and Conditions.
I suggest you keep the complaint focussed on a single issue (the account closure), otherwise the bank will select the issue to respond to.0
