2nd time in 18 months car got hit when stationary outside my house. Fortunately owner who lives two doors up owned up (it was also witnessed by my daughter) They gave me their details for insurance. I got a rough quote of £700 from a body shop who does insurance work. They told me a claim company can do this for me for free and wont cost me but I am wondering why I need them when their insurance should pay and dont want my insurance to go up again after last time hit n run and I had protected no claims too.

The claim company told me that if car repair is over 66% then car will be a write off, the car is worth around 1k and bill may be £700. Car is mint condition with low mileage dont want it scrapped its well cared for.

Now I can go with claim company or possible direct through body shop I hope. Would the cars worth be major stumble block? Car is Ford Focus 2000 and has done under 60k miles and barely any rust on body. Damaged done to front wing (again) and drivers door and mirror which was folded in. I even park car slightly on pavement to avoid this, but she reversed down street in to car

ask him if he wants to pay, if not contact his insurance directly dont use a claims management as it will get written off. Dont forget all you have to report to your insurance no matter what
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Thanks I did ask them if they wanted to pay but they declined. If I notify my insurance I get a no fault accident again wont I?

The body shop said that if I go via claim company they do all work and it wont costs me a penny they even said my insurance dont need to be notified

I wont to do job right but dont see why I should be penalised if insurance goes up

its in your policy that you have to notify them, you never want to have your policy cancelled not worth the risk. It will be a none fault accident, but very very high chance of w/o

Thanks I am concerned it will effect me in future yet again no fault of mine parked car and adequate space for other vehicles to pass but still that aint enough I still get hit

    Claim company is http://www.kindertons.co.uk/aboutus.asp

the bodyshop told me about them, they may write car off I rather have this car than 1k in pocket assuming it is write off, Its looked after/serviced not thrashed and drive carefully by a loving owner

Speak to the insurance company of the person who hit you directly. If they say that the car is a right off (after inspecting) they will offer you the car value. Accept that if fair or negotiate then ask if you can buy the car back off them. They will normally "give it to you" or charge a very nominal amount it is less hassle for them. Take the car to get repaired and you are quids in!!

I have done this in the past and providing the person who hit you accepts responsibility it will go through very quickly and without the hassle of going to a 3rd party. The insurance company will prefer this also

I've gone through accident management companies before and what normally happens when a car is written off; is your insurance company keeps it.
With an accident management company the third party insurance company doesn't want the car and the accident management company doesn't want it... So you get it back as well as the payout.

it will go on cue anyway by the other insurance company, all accident management companys do is put you in a hire car at an exagirate rate to the other party, which does sometimes back fire and insurance companys have sometimes refused to pay.

If you need a car ask the 3rd pty insurance company for a hire car, they will get enterprise to give you one.

My son had a similar experience - the repairs were going to cost more than the car was worth but he wanted to keep the car. The assessor said that they always worked on the top price for repairs but he could offer a settlement that would be enough to pay for the bodywork to be done by a smaller company with the condition that the work had to be done or the insurance would be invalid.

My son took the settlement, used a local one-man repairer and kept his car on the road.
