Premium Protection - Critical Illness with Life Cover

Hi,
We took out Critical Illness with Life Cover with Scottish Widows in 2006. We've just recently cancelled the policy to go with another company that is cheaper.
I've noticed in the paperwork that we have been paying since 2006 a Premium Protection on each of the policies we had with them. We were not to my memory told we were paying this, or that we could chose not to have it. I remember only we were told the amount that would come out by direct debit.
The Premium protection is there so that the bank "will start to pay your premiums, after a period of 26 weeks, if you are unable to work due to sickness or an accident." We also had an income protection policy with them, so surely we did not need to be paying premium protection too.
Do you think, there's cause for complaint?
Thanks
D

Unlikely to be ground for complaint.
You would, subject to meeting the requirements, have been able to claim on both. As the income protection benefits will not fully replace your income, having the CI policy premiums met in addition would be valuable.0
