R&C ROOFLINES do roofing work calling door-to-door offering ther services around Lincolnshire/North Lincs/Yorkshire/Cleveland.
They have a freephone number - 0800 858 9010 which is diverted to the mobile phone (07826 021 616) of someone calling himself R. Croke.
Mr. Croke does not do jobs in the way that a professional builder would do jobs. In installing dry verge systems in the North Lincolnshire village I live in he merely screws these under the tiles rather than the recognised method of extending battens and fixing to the battens.
Mr. Croke is rather coy about the address of his business. His advertising literature claims it is at a certain numbered house on Westrum Lane, Brigg, DN20 9EY, but it is not!
When challenged on this, Mr. Croke claims there are 10 vans in his business so that the address on the leaflet (which has Mr. Croke's mobile phone number) must be for another van!!??
Given that Mr. Croke does, in effect, charge in excess of £100/hour for his services and if his roofing business has 10 vans he would surely need to be registered for VAT? He certainly is not!
There is a sizeable itinerant community in Brigg and it is known many of those work in the building industry, going door-to-door offering their services and conning many elderly victims.
According to trading standards, some of the itinerants use false addresses on Westrum Lane. Brigg! Trading Standards have prosecuted five members of one itinerant family living in Brigg. Sentences were as high as 7+ years.

i really dont understand why anyone ever uses a cold caller, unless they are already working on a job close by and their work can be inspected.0
-
R. Croke may not be this person's real name! The vehicle he drives is registered to someone else.0
-
The van that Mr. Croke drives is a white Ford Transit, registration number: VE54 TEY
VE54TEY (just so search engines can find it)
2880 -
are these vans done in a vinyl wrap to make them look like a plc?0

Here is a news story about a family of gypsies from Brigg (where Mr. Croke comes from)...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2015209/Conmen-gardening-gang-targeted-blind-elderly-make-1m-locked-up.html
Mr. Croke looks quite similar to the Shane Price pictured in the article.

I now know that the mobile number used in advertising literature and on the invoice from R&C Rooflines is for an unregistered Vodafone Pay As You Go phone.0

An occupant at the address where R&C Rooflines supposedly operate from, tells me that mail has been arriving for Mr. Croke at that address from government departments over the past few weeks.
The occupant also tells me that an R. Croke was known as being from an itinerant family when he (R. Croke) was a schoolboy.
Mr. Croke probably lives at 3 Westrum Park, Westrum Lane, Brigg rather than on Westrum Lane itself. This is a known gypsy site.0 -
They are back! But now call themselves: BW Home Improvements, Westrum Lane, Brigg, DN20 9EY.
New phone numbers too: 0800 849 7282, 0786 048 1940.0 -
This is very strange...
Although this leaflet, advertising dry verge systems, was put through my door today, my neighbours never got the leaflets! Who would travel 10 miles, just to post a leaflet through one letterbox? Even more strange is the fact that I have a dry verge system, but my neighbours do not!
It's almost as if he posted the leaflet through my door to see what I would do! So, I have reported this matter to the Police, just in case anything else happens!0
