Insuring my engagement ring

Hopefully someone can help! House insurance personal possessions with swiftcover only covers up to £2000 for an individual item and I need to insure the ring for more than that (generous boyf/fiance). What type of insurance can I get to cover the ring? Thanks in advance for your help:beer:

Are you just looking at the standard limits?
Most home insurance comapnies will let you add on specific items where they are large than the standard limit.
Might not be available via the web though.

You can get jewellery insurance but compared to home insurance it is expensive. It may be worth phoning your home insurers and see what their limit for specified items are on the Personal Possessions cover. Many will go up to a few K and some fairly standard policies go up to £20k - guess it depends just how generous he has been,

    Not swiftcover.
It's worth changing insurers to cover specified items with a higher value when you re-insure.
  • Thanks very much-I think it's a case of changing my house insurance. Swiftcover only offer cover up to £2000 for any individual item and that can't be changed.

I have insurance via T H March - they are a specialist jewellery insurer and one of the few I have found. they may be worth a try. Mine is insured for £8k and costs £103 per year. That covers me to take it abroad and it does not need to be in a safe overnight which some insurers wanted me to do.
I think you can get a quote online.
