My friend's son has accidently broken the end of his flash drive off (the silver usb connector bit) and unfortunately it contains his GCSE course work which he hasn't backed up. Any recommendations where he can get it fixed or the data recovered?

My only suggestion would be to buy a USB extension cable from a pound shop and ask someone with a soldering iron and a bit of computer know how to chop one end off the extension cable and connect it straight to the USB memory stick circuit board.I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes. :doh:0

flash drives aren't a good place to store masters of anything, you only need to pull them out too quickly, and they get corrupted. Suggest CD's or DVD's for backups.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
