hoover 5 yr parts guarantee

my hoover washing machine has packed up at 15 months old, rang the hoover hotline, yest the parts are free but £115 for the engineer to come out - contacted local repair chap who has cost me nothing & said the main computer board has gone - whats my next move? - do I get it repaired via Hoover and then argue the toss with the retailer as goods not sold fit for purpose to be reimbursed, or argue with retailer before repair, this leaves me without washing faciltiies ftb & my Mums been doing my washing whilst waiting for original engineer/diagnosis this past 2 weeks? any experience of this/advice gratefully accepted

I'd just take it on the chin and get the loal guy to fix it. At least the its done at a reasonable cost.

These free parts guarantees are a scam

  • at the moment Im wating for local guy to come back to me, he was checking with a mate re the Hoover machine & the sequence of 'lights' it was showing, he hasnt got back to me yet with a price, thats if he can & will repair it
  • do Hoover do a plan like Hotpoint do? our washing machine packed up after the 1 year guarantee (typically) had run out, it was £100 to call out Hotpoint and then free parts but they let me pay monthly and i paid a bit more to have it guaranteed for a year with Hotpoint.

My Hoover washing machine became faulty after around 2 years. I contacted the retailer who told me to organise the repair and claim it back from them. I paid the £115 to Hoover and then sent the receipt to the retailer and claimed the refund.
