WPC54G been playing up a bit lately but I think I've got it licked now (operator finger trouble).
One think puzzles me though, when I double click the green square icon on the bottom toolbar, a little window appears with symbols for a lappy, a card, a router and the world, (sorry I'm not terribly technical). Across the top of these icons there is a message which says, "You are connected to the access point, but the Internet cannot be found" and there is a little red circle thing between the router and world icons which keeps flashing.
I have not got any ethernet cables or U.S.B. leads plugged in, the only lead plugged in at the moment is the mains. The O.H. who is sat at the other end of the settee has the message "No association with acces point" on her wireless enabled lappy and is running on batterys so has no external leads connected. To the best of my knowledge nobody in the vicinity has wireless so how am I able to surf if I am connected to the access point, but the Internet cannot be found ?

If you hover over the wireless icon down by the clock in your system tray, what does it say? Does it say the name of your network? Did you change the name of your network SSID to make it different or did you leave it as Linksys? Did you set-up encryption on your network? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Hovering over icon gives the message, "WPC54Gv5", signal strength and quality. Network name is still Linksys and I haven't been brave enough to set up the encryption yet.0

Not really if you have not even changed your SSID (network name). First you should log-in to your router and change the SSID to a different name but one that does not directly identify you. If you have not already changed the routers username/password, you should do this to prevent others from getting in. Do this first and check that your network name has changed on your PC's. If it hasn't you are using someone else's open network.
The next step is to set-up encryption to protect your data and bandwidth. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0
