Small rant alert!!!
Had a second Virgin box installed in our bedroom last week, only, due to the fact that we have tiles on the exterior wall under the bedroom window, the engineer said he wasn't able to drill through them to install the box. He said our best option was to drill through the ceiling and up through the floorboards in the bedroom above. I said fine, my OH was more than able to do that, so he left the digibox in its original box, installed the phone line, connected the wire for the second box into the wall box and left.
It wasn't til OH came home later that night and had a look through the stuff the engineer had left that we realised there was no remote. Bit gutted, but called Virgin to get one sent. Managed to get through to a scottish lady, explained that we hadn't been left a remote. She apologised, and ordered one and advised it would be approx. 4 working days. Bit peeved, but nothing we could do.
Got home last night and it still hadn't arrived, so i called again, spoke to the indian call ctr. The woman didn't understand me at all, but eventually it transpired that no remote had been ordered on Saturday night, and infact I hadnt even called!!! She also told me the box was HD so I was also paying a HD sub!!
Really narked by this point, and i knew i'd never have arranged for a HD box, as the tv in the bedroom is an old style big back one, so HD would have been pointless.
She put me through to customer care, which was an english person. He said that he could see that I had in fact called on Saturday night, but for whatever reason the remote hadn't been ordered. He ordered a new one for me, but said it would be 7 to 10 days for delivery!!!!
He did however say that the box was just a standard one, not HD and he had no idea why the other woman said otherwise.
I don't get why something so simple is so difficult with these large companies?! It really annoys me! How difficult is it to arrange for a remote to be sent? Surely no more than a couple of clicks of the computer mouse???
I know not having a remote isn't the end of the world, but it's going to be 14 days-ish from getting the box before i get a remote!!!
Anyway, rant over. :rotfl:

when you dial 150 get yourself put through to retentions and tell them how annoyed you are and youre seriously thinking of leaving them (you have a cooling off period i think so wont be under contract?).........either way, they will sort things out for you and will recompense you in some way...good luck0

I'm not really looking for compensation. Its just bizarre that its that difficult to order a simple remote. Its not just Virgin either, other companys are just as bad. Grrrrrrr!:oGetting married 23rd June 2012!!:o0 -
much easier to request one on the VM support forums0

When you say wall box,do you mean the box on the outside of the house (The ETB)or the white Isolator box that is fitted where the TV/SACM are inside the home?....
Only if he didn't fit an Isolator either in the ETB or in the white box where the second tv is,then the's nothing protecting your TV ect from possible power surges of the VM network or from your home to the VM Network.0 -
I second going through Retentions if you're really upset but I'd do your homework to see what others are offering as they might do you a deal if they know you have some knowledge behind you.0

They don't charge extra for HD on VM unlike Sky, unless you want HD Sky Sports and Movies. They did used to charge and HD activation fee, to activate the HD channels on your box but they scrapped this. See here: http://shop.virginmedia.com/digital-tv/set-top-boxes/v-hd-box.html
Even if you have a HD box it still works on older TVs but not in HD obviously, I don't think Virgin offer any non HD boxes anymore.0 -
