morethan car insurance driving me mad

hi if anyone can give me any advice as to where i stand or what to do next id appreciate it.

3 months ago i had an accident and made my claim with more than. who didnt send out any letters or information asking what happened and how the accident occured. (most companys send out a pack asking for a diagram??!!)
Anyway 3 months dowm the line since the accident and having had my car declared a write off i am left with no car.
During the last 3 months morethan have informed me the wheels were not standard..... they are! There was a turbo on my car........there wasnt!!!
After further investigation my honesty was confirmed there was no turbo and they were standard wheels.

yet they still wouldnt pay out.... reason being i didnt declare my 3 points.....yes i did!!!
last sept when i got 3 points i informed morethan and they were going to update my policy. however the direct debit didnt come out, then again after yet more phone calls it still didnt come out.
morethan apologised for the error and gave me a free months insurance. during this hassle i had a letter saying they were going to cancel my policy due to non payment..............hello you admitted it was your fault!!!

so anyway now there saying that the 3 points were not declared and after theyve told me they cant find the tape recording of that call i have to pay the premium i shouldve paid for having 3 points.

so i did and my money was sent through just like that, i know the 3 points was declared but since they sent me my money they have since sent 4 letters.
1 saying my policy is being cancelled on the 14th/8 and another received 18th/8 saying policy is being cancelled on the 16th/8.
the 3rd letter is my updated policy and amount remaining for next 6 months. the 4th letter is asking for £55 and does not state what it is for.

has anyone had issues with more than?
any tips on how i could fight this would be great!

sorry to go on for soo much :)

  • Had massive issues when i tried to claim on my home insurance policy with More Than.

Disgusting communication with a dismissive attitude!

Hope OP's claim would be resolved soon!

To address the rhetorical question, no most companies no longer use claim forms but take everything over the phone instead. The exception to this is generally where liability is in dispute and so a diagram is useful.

As to the other issues, you really just need to keep on at them and advise that you want a written final response as you intend to take the matter to the FOS
  • Any help/advice appreciated - been with morethan for many years (fully comp) without problems then maybe that's because I never made a claim before. We've been through at least two company changes the original policy is long gone. We frequently drive to France, each time I have called and told them and they have said "no problem - have a good trip". This time, we were driven into by a French car, both cars are write offs, thankfully we were all OK. morethan say we only have third party cover. Don't they have some legal obligation to tell us that we are not fully covered in the EU? Even though UK is actually in the EU and people thought me mad for calling them in the first place! Our much loved Rover 75 is abandoned in France we are severely out of pocket. I do object to calling India, unlike the other contributor I don't think "India is stupid", but this is difficult enough without language barriers and morethan know that - their customer service is in the UK only the claims dept are in India. Anyways - any ideas anyone please?

Anyone with an insurance policy with MoreThan should register for a "Personal Customer Manager", then you get an 0800 phone number to use and an extension phone number to contact your own customer manager who will be in the UK and will better understand your case.

Members of my family have always had good service (including during a buildings insurance claim) when using this Personal Customer Manager service.

Why use the offshore call centre when you do not need to ;)
