We’ve joined up with Proexport Colombia – the Colombia Tourist Office – to send the four winners of this year’s Amateur competition on an incredible photographic commission to the country. The pictures you submit can be taken anywhere in the world, but must fit one of four categories: People, Wildlife, Landscape or Travel Icons. The Travel Icons category is designed to recognise shots of places, events and people that have achieved an iconic visual status in the world of travel: an alternative view of the Taj Mahal or Rio Carnival, perhaps.
The four category winners will win a photo commission to visit a region of Colombia. There will be a total of four regions and each travelling party will visit one of them. The trip will include economy international and domestic flights, ground arrangements and accommodation. Flights will be from London and tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable once booked. Travel insurance, meals and local taxes are not included.
Runners-up will receive a Nikon D3100 and any highly-commended entries from the Amateur category will receive a Nikon COOLPIX S9100.
The Portfolio competition is open to both amateur and professional photographers (and is often won by amateurs). Here we’re after a set of five eye-catching images that work together as a set – they should be striking images in themselves that, when put together, tell a cohesive and spectacular story.
As with the Amateur competition, portfolios must fit one of four categories: People, Wildlife, Landscape or Travel Icons. The winner will walk away with £3,000.
