Equita Bailiffs - Urgent help needed pls

Options
hi, just wondering if anyone can help me. had equita round yesterday, for 3 unpaid PCN's, 2 of which my ex partner recieved, as long story short, was working as a market manager at a christmas market, and had his car on site, and got a ticket, but was told by someone who worked at the council that he could challenge it and wouldnt have to pay. The other was my fault and I admit liability. We challeneged it 3 times but the council just wouldnt budge.

Now Equita, want £409 today for ONE ticket. I do not have that kinf of money, I am a single mum on my own, and 2 of the tickets are not mine, but the car is regesitered in my name so I know that I am liable.

So far I have visited CAB - they tried but he wouldnt budge an inch, read lots of advice on here and a bailiff advice site but there is so much to go through.
I have sold the car to my mum and got a reciept, and am about to send to log book off so its in her name.
I have hidden the car, wouldnt be impossible to find, but its out of view, and not on my drive.
I will be calling him in a little while to try and get a breakdown of charges.

My question is, is there anything else I can do? I am sat here nervous about every knock at the door!

Many thanks for any advice that you can give me.

Assuming these are Council PCNs, did you go to bailiffadviceonline (Sheila)?

And did you pay the £10 to get advice or were you trying to work it all out yourself from the home page of a website? People have reported that paying the tenner for Sheila to help them is absolutely worth it - never seen a bad report. She knows her stuff, I think she also posts as Herbie on here and on CAG and pepipoo forums. Get that breakdown - do not pay the bailiff anything nor open the door to them - and show the breakdown to Sheila.

Let us know how you get on.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Herbie?? That's a man's name isn't it? (Herbert)

...either that or an intelligent car!

This sounds like council, unless these bailiffs are playing the glorified debt collectors. We need more information, who issued the original ticket(s)? Council or private firm?

Looks like council judging by the "We challenged the council three times but they wouldn't budge".

Well Equita are 'real' bailiffs who do enforce PCNs, so I'm guessing this is a legit enforcement action to at least some degree, if you see what I mean.

You really do need to go to bailiifadvice, the stage you are at now needs specialist help. Your car is probably the only thing they are interested in unless you have a Picasso or two hanging on your walls.
Keep it well hidden while you try and get some help!

Remember you do not have to answer the door and you don't have to let bailiffs into your home, make sure you keep all doors and windows closed while you are dealing with this!

Try to relax they cant hurt you, or take you to prison, if you genuinely haven't got anything there is very little they can do. Also don't agree to anything that you cant keep to.
