New for old insurance on dropped laptop

Just after a bit of advice about my claim.
I have dropped my laptop, breaking the screen and case. The insurance company have collected it and just come back to us to say it is not repairable so they will replace. They are offering a fairly basic model as a replacement which is fine as the laptop was almost 5 years old so the spec on the replacement is better than the original machine. However my laptop had a 'designer' case (it was a Dell, they usually offer this as an option) and this is the reason I chose this specific laptop over other models when I bought it. The replacement I am being offered is a very boring grey machine.
Can I reasonably ask that they replace the laptop with one with a similar 'designer' style case as part of matching the original specification? I don't have the policy with me at the moment so can't see if there are any restrictions on what they will match on new for old. I may just be being excessively picky but I did love the design of my laptop.......

Yes you can reasonably ask but.... They are only obliged to replace with similar spec and as they are bettering your laptop I wouldn't push it. You could sell it once you've got it and get the designer one.:footie:
