Black Horse trying to charge £25 to change DD date

Options
Hi,

I just rang Black Horse to have my direct debit changed from the end of the month to the 10th as it works a lot better for me. So next months payment would come out on the 10th Sept as opposed to the end of Sept. So they'll be getting their money early anyway.

Then I was informed to this I would have to pay them £25. I've never heard of somewhere trying to charge for you to simply move a payment date. She said it was for administration, I exclaimed on the phone that's ridiculous there is no 'Administration' involved its all done by the computer. Simple input is required.

Are they allowed to do this?

If your agreement with them details such a charge then yes they are allowed to do so.

    Yes they can do it.

    1) You're changing your contractual payment date.
    2) You're asking them to do some work, so they're charging you for it.

Personally I'd leave it as it is and budget around it.
