HI there people,
Thanks for viewing my post.
I am currently stuck between a rock and a hard place.
I have been contacting barclaycard for two weeks regarding my GOLDFISH account that was closed in 2006.
Today having spoken to a manager for the 3rd time they have now advised me that they bought the debt from goldfish in 2008 and therefore because my account was settled in 2006 they would not hold my details? Is this correct? Can anybody please help? If barclaycard do not have my details then who does? And is goldfish still trading!? Thanks :-)

Hi and welcome
They should hold data for at least the last 6 years, so in your case they should still have something at least.
I would contact the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) for advice on this, ring them and do not email because they probably have logs of emails to get through, good luck and details of ICO contact below.

Also, why don't you just put in a reclaim anyway, you can still do so, and if GF are no longer active, whoever taken over them will have also taken over the liabilities, so pursue Barclaycard.
Reclaiming questionnaire step 3 below, complete and send to Barclaycard, head office of complaints, keep a copy for yourself as well, they generally have 8 weeks, but they have been given extra time like some other banks due to backlogs, so 16 weeks it is currently.

Hi and thanks for the reply. I have suggested to barclaycard that seeing as they have taken over goldfish that they should now be accountable for my ppi claim, however the manager told me that as my card was settled in 2006 and they bought goldfish in 2008 they do not hold any record for me as they only bought the card details that were open?? Would a solicitor be able to obtain the correct details should I contact them?
Surely like you said, ifthey bought goldfish that means they would have all the account information for previous accounts? :-( stressful!
Thanks again0 -
Morgan Stanley owned Goldfish back in 2006. http://www.morganstanley.com/about/press/articles/89.html
Try persuing them.

So if they sold goldfish in feb 2006 and my credit card was settled in June 2006 the debt would have been owned by them right?
Thanks again for the information :-)0
