Cashplus prepaid card - have I lost my money?!!

Ok so not a credit card...but didn't know where else to put this and need an answer asap as I'm panicking.

I ordered a cashplus card just to use for online food shopping, so thought it'd be a good card to have for the purpose.

It turned up yesterday, I activated it and got my pin; then transferred £60 to the cashplus card from my halifax account (online transfer using faster payment). This was around 5pm and a message came up on the transfer confirmation screen that the recipient could not confirm when the funds would be available

Anyway - it's now 9.30am next morning and my cash plus balance is still £0.00 and there is nothing in 'pending transactions'.
The only transactions showing on the statement are the initial £4.95 set up credit/debit.

Should something be showing on my statement now and/or should the money be in my account?

I'm really worried I've lost the money and wish I'd just tried putting a small amount in first!

Don't panic. I'm sure that it will turn up soon.

I have an AA Spend & Earn card. Faster Payments in made on one banking day don't show up until the following banking day. Faster Payments in made in the evening take a further banking day. I don't know what the cut-off time is. I'd wait until Monday before worrying.

Always a good idea to do a £1 transfer first to check that the details have been set up correctly.

Thanks, it's just on the website it says that payments made after 3.30pm will be loaded onto the card the next day - but it depends what they class as the next day I suppose, maybe they mean 24 full hours? But if so why not say that and not just 'the next day'...

Shouldn't it at least be showing on my account statement under pending transactions though?

Sadly, until its posted on your account it will not appear. If you gave CashPlus your mobile number you will get a text message from them to say the money has been loaded.

Takes 24 hours tops if you sent this via Faster Payment and by the Sort Code/Account Number listed on the letter or through the Members Area.

£1 of debt is too much for me!
  • If it's like the prepaid card that I recently started using the very first payment transfer (even from a bank with faster payments) took up to three working days to show up on the card due to identity/money laundering checks . Thereafter, transfers should be a lot quicker.
