Help with home insurance

I am currently purchasing home insurance. My husband has numerous fishing rods, many indivually worth £300-£400 each. In the section 'do you wish to declare any items valued over £1500' should i declare them? I'm wondering if they were stolen/broken would we be covered as in total they could be worth a few thousand pounds.
Thanks

Im no expert but I think its best to declare them because IF ever you were unfortunate enough to put in a claim they would be covered, I always like to remind myself that insurers will avoid paying out if they can, so if you cover all bases, i.e. declare everything and are honest then the chances of them not paying out are slim!!!

You dont need to declare them as they are individual items and individually not worth £1,500. It is the same with an SLR camera where the body could be £1000 and you have 3 lenses you bought separately for £500-1000 each you wouldn't need to declare.

Given you take them out of the house it is probably worth including their value in your Personal Possessions cover and checking if the PP section has a different limit for unspecified items.

As long as they could not be deemed as a "pair" or "set" of items (eg golf clubs might be a set even though each individual club would not be over £1500) you would not be required to specify them.

If you are in doubt, ring the inusrance company that you are considering to clarify what is covered on their particular policy - make a note of who you spoke to, time, date, etc to be sure.

as above. If its halifax its the 'single item' that needs to be under 1500, so as the rods are a couple of hundred each they are under this.

also if you need them covered outside of the home dont forget to select that cover too.
