I have just left my job as a Learning Support Assistant to work at home full time doing beauty and holistic treatments ( minor sort of way) and doing sewing and alterations. The decision was made easier, as a local bridal shop got in touch with me about doing some work for them. I'm not regretting it yet. Just trying to get more of an emphasis on the homemaking element of my life. Failing at the moment miserably![SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. dittoI did it three years ago. Miss the job and the children I worked with but I think I miss 'my identity' more.
I don't regret my decision even though it brought about a massive financial fall on our bums. I'm with my children and I just know I would have regretted working through their early years.
It's the identity thing I struggle with but it might be easier for you with your working at home too. Still, I wouldn't swap it for the world, even though I get down a lot.
Juliapequin I also am up, ready and proper ready not just clothed and washed. I do feel a lot better with living room and dining room homestyledand I contacted a Mum I stand in the School yard with, we're meeting at the park later.
I think when I gave up work I had fancy ideas of being a 'yummy mummy' not really :rotfl: but the whole idea of 'super glam mum'. In reality we lost our home, can't afford my car, not much spare money for new clothes or fancy makeup, being frugal and OS to the point of obsession, depressive and anxious thoughts sapping my motivation..... it's not a fancy life at all but I am now at a point where I am doing this to myself. I am thinking negatively about my role as it's not the role I had on a pedestal. I think it's time I worked on getting my self respect back.
Love to all. This thread is helping me immensely this morning.0 -

Thank you so much!!! It looks really attractive as it is, but is just too hard on my eyes - I'm having so much trouble with my sight and the optician couldn't come up with a good solution last time I went - I'm extremely shortsighted but my close reading has deteriorated dramatically over the last few months - I need about ten pairs of glasses with all different prescriptions for different things that I do!0 -

I am in these 4 walls every day doing the same thing, no real challenge. Being part of a society, a community is vital and currently what I am doing is living in a house and popping to the local shop every now and then with the odd 'morning' and smile to strangers as I walk there. I live in a house, I would like to live in a street
Yes, yes, YES! That was me up until 4 years ago or so. Used to go to the shops every day and strike up a conversation with the person behind the till just to have some human contact. Not very MSE!
tbh, what changed my life was this site. I now have friends throughout the UK, we talk on the phone, I meet up with some of them who lives closer and one in particular has become such a wonderful friend to me that we actually went and had a holiday together. I've tended towards isolation most of my life with no real consistent friends, partly as I was chronically shy. Boy, I didn't know what I was missing. The reson I can de-clutter as ruthlessly as I have been is that I no longer need the comfort blanket of stuff as I have people now to replace that. I feel far happier in my own skin and much more able to feel a productive member of society.
I feel for you and the way you are feeling at the moment, but happiness and contentment come from within when you have the things around you that everyone needs; companionship, friendship, comfort and support. And love!

This really is one of my biggest issues/problems. We just have soooo much stuff and stuff cramed in places where i could store things out of the way (kids toys my sewing stuff etc). It really is getting to me and such a mammoth task i dont know where to start. This is what i want to conquer in a couple of weeks.
Have missed the thread over the weekend as had many bits to do so am just catching up now while ds3 is asleep.0 -

i have just realised you can post in any colour you want in your reply. See my latest post under meal plans?
Write your text then go along the top where it says colour it drops down i choose red. Then highlight your text and it should come out in red.
Maybe that will be better until i can get the other sorted.
Thanks im enjoying this.:footie:0 -

I am happy with the amount of things I own.
Too much stuff is frightening to me as I grew up in a very cluttered house :eek:0 -
