dorma loft

Hi everyone,

I want to make a dorma loft on my 3 bed house, I need to keep the costs to a minimum as I will borrow from a few friends and family.

If we did some of the works ourselves (we have an electrician and a plasterer in the family - I just have to tell them they are going to do this! :)).

How much should I be prepared to borrow?

Thankyou for your help :T

I hope someone knows what they are doing .. it might not be quite as simple as it seems , beams may need moving floors reinforcing etc..

Oh I'd be too scared to do something this important by myself, will get my friend who is a builder to give step-by-step advice, his wife has promised that he will help when he can (no charge yipee).
Yes I will need to let the council know, but that cost I have already sorted.
£20k? if thats the case may as well leave it. was hoping maybe around the £10k mark if not less. I will be getting in a lot of the tradesmen to do some of the work for free (just didn't want to ask them and be put off the borrowing aspect as they are very careful people with money and don't approve of borrowing if you can squeeze by).
