PPI reclaiming

Hello, I'm new to all this! I sent the template letter to my bank asking for my credit card terms and conditions. 8 weeks later I received general printed terms that you get with any credit card so I still do not know whether or not I signed for the PPI to be charged. Does anyone know where do I go from here?

    Hi there
If you ask the bank directly, they should be able to confirm, if you don't want to ring them, if you have a local bank, call in, they should check the system for you.

What bank is this with? Cheers.

  • Hello

Thanks for this. I have been away for a couple of weeks so have just seen your reply. I will ring them on Monday. It is with Bank of Ireland - (UK).

    Thanks again.
  • Hello
I have finally received a copy of my credit card application in the post today. I had ticked the box for PPI but it is obvious to see that I scribbled it out again. However there is a box underneath to tick if I didnt want to take out PPI but didn't tick this. (Some of the form is in my handwriting and the rest is in a bank officials handwriting). Do you think can I argue that the box had been unticked? This is dated November 1999.

    Hi Lucille

Yes you can, as this does seem to be the case going by what you said, mention anything that applies to you.;)

  • Thank you. So what do I do next - do I ring the bank again (on the letter it says that if I have any further queries to contact them).

  • Just an update - last Thursday I sent my questionnaire by recorded delivery to the Bank. Fingers crossed!

    Good luck!.
  • I have now received a letter from the Bank stating that as I ticked the box to confirm that I require PPI, I knew what it was being added to the account. (However they didn't go into my point about the tick mark being scribbled out). However they have also stated that following consideration of the available information, they have been unable to satisfy themselves that the policy was suitable for me, so it has now been cancelled. They have also offered me the sum of £688.42 being the amount paid in premiums and interest to date at 8% per annum.

Do I need to ask for the interest on premiums paid since 1999 or just be grateful I have been offered this amount?

I am delighted that they have offered me this with just one letter.

    Cheers.

Unless you have proof that you paid more than this, then accept it,if you think you paid more, you could challenge this, good luck what ever you decide to do.
