Offer Accepted a Week Ago...Nothing Since?

Hi guys,

We accepted an offer on our property a week ago, and instructed our solicitors immediately.

Our buyers had an AIP with their bank, but did not have a solicitor appointed. At the time our EA said they could not send out a confirmation of sale until she had their solicitor's details.

Since then, we have heard nothing from them. I spoke to our EA earlier in the week and she said we probably wouldn't hear from her for a while as the solicitor's would be doing their thing for a few weeks, but we have still not had a confirmation of sale and our EA have not changed the house to "sold" or under offer."

Is this normal?
My debts at 11th April 2011:
Virgin Credit Card - [STRIKE]£1,900[/STRIKE] £1,500 (21.1% paid off)
Nationwide Authorised OD - [STRIKE]£2,000 [/STRIKE] £1,500 (25% paid off)
Student Loan - exact amount TBC but circa £5,000

I'm on the road! :T

No such thing as normal in house selling/buying :)

A week is not long though and until a solicitor is instructed nothing will happen. Best bet is to make sure you have regular dialogue with the EA until things start moving.

When we bought we instructed a solicitor the day after our offer was accepted (would have been the same day but the offer was accepted on a Sunday) and our full mortgage application went in the day after that.

We then waited for ages as our sellers were in no hurry. :wall:

Tell the EA to make it clear to the buyer that the property will still be marketed until they have instructed a solicitor. EA is right that nothing will happen for a few weeks but that's once the solicitor is instructed and the EA should be chasing for the solicitor's details.

I would want my property marketed right up until survey as thats when the buyer has made a financial commitment to the property.
