Keep getting random pending debits

I regularly check my online banking and keep track of the balance, spending etc on a spreadsheet.
At least 3 times since the start of the year, I have had random pending debits of £2.50 which disappear after a week (e.g. Balance £100, available balance £97.50).
Does anyone know what this could be? I'm with Bank of Scotland, and I know I haven't made payments for these amounts (obviously as they never actually debit, plus I keep a good track of my spending as above).

It could be a pre authorisation check, such as online shopping, petrol pumps when paying at the pump etc.
Take £1 usually (guess its £2.50 in this case), never applied and drops off after a few days.0
