Dell Laptop Battery - 9 or 12 cells?

I'm in the processs of buying a new battery for my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop.

I've found a 9 cell battery on Amazon for £35 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Trent-Replacement-Laptop-Inspiron/dp/B003YVU3M2/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1313671854&sr=1-1.

But if a spend an extra £5 I could get a Chinese import 12 cell battery from Ebay.

Is the extra expenditure worth it or am I using the wrong measurement to judge the length of time it will last?

Not if its a fake Chinese - keep it genuine

Incidentally the ebay seller has very good feedback but my main focus is really whether to go for 9 or 12 cells - is it worth the extra expense?

If you want to take the risk then fine - 12 cells for an extra fiver is a no brainer

A 12-cell battery will last discharge more slowly than a 9-cell battery, so it will last longer before needing a charge. How much longer is a good question... Whether a longer time is vital to you, only you can say!

The Amazon reviews says the 9 cell will last for around 3-4 hours - can anyone offer a guess on how much longer a 12 cell might last?

12/9 times 3-4 hours might be a good first estimate...

The 12 cell will be bigger in terms of power capacity but is often bigger in physical dimensions too. Certainly with the 12 cell batteries used with our clients Dell laptops they stick out the back of the machine by a couple of centimeters where as the 9 cell ones dont. Not a major problem (though makes getting it into the docking station more challenging) but if your concerned about weight or aesthetics its a consideration.
