I'm thinking of doing this, but is it really worth it for such a small amount (£123) and are the bank likly to pay up?

Yes it is worth it.
Have a look through the Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories thread. You will see that some people have claimed back as little as £25/£30 and been successful.
It's your money that you've overpaid to the bank. Go and get it back!!!How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
