£30 for the bottle then £20 to fill with gas. Just realised I could have just bought an empty bottle off ebay for £5 and then exchanged it. Gutted.
I see the £30 agreement thing is sorta like a hire agreement (and, yeh, you're not supposed to sell the bottles). If you take bottle back empty to calor gas and want to cancel then you get 70% back.
I'm guessing I could buy an identical bottle off ebay, take my agreement, then take it back to calor gas and get £21 back?

And you might find that percentage reduces every year and after five years you get nothing back !!. B & Q charge £40.00 rental, the local independent dealer charges nothing !.0 -

It doesn't have to be identical, any size or colour will do.0 -
Bottled gas type is determined by colour of the bottle.0

I tried my local tip, even though they had a big pile of them in the corner they said they weren't allowed to sell us one
Ended up going with "MacGas" as the shop owner said he'd waive the deposit. Turns out the refills are cheaper than calor anyway0 -
I wouldnt get a 2nd hand one myself. I saw a burger van containing calor gas cylinders blow up once (biggin hill air show a while back ... everyone thought was a plane crash!)...quite spectacular! I've always been a bit wary since!
 Every time they are exchanged for a refill, Calor does a safety check on the bottles. Chances are that you won't get a new one... ever!0 -
