Problems with Tesco clubcard/redspottedhanky exchange?

ET1976

I've exchanged £10 worth of Tesco Clubcard vouchers for redspottedhanky.com tokens.

In my redspottedhanky account there is now an eVoucher for £10 with an expiry date of Thu 31 Dec.

Is this the Tesco voucher, and if so why isn't it for £30?

Has anyone else experienced problems with clubcard vouchers and redspottedhanky?

Many thanks!

Sorry but I don't know the answer but you can get £10 off train tickets with Red Spotted Hankie using Martin's Money Tips today.

I am watching this thread as I have just sent £10 of Tesco vouchers myself.

Are you sure you didn't apply for the offer that MSE had yesterday that gave you a free £10? This specifically states that your account will be credited.

I have just exchanged £15 of Tesco vouchers for RSH. I had an email confirming, then another one saying click this link to set up an RSH account. There's also instructions for if you already have an account. When i set up with RSH it said within 24 hours I would have credit in my account from Tesco.

    Hope that helps!

In my experience Tesco will email you a code which you have to use on the site when you purchae, it doesn't credit your account with a company. I used vouchers for Megabus/train and had to enter the tesco codes on the site during purchase.

    Hope that helps!

No, the MSE offer credits loyalty points, not vouchers. That is a separate section of the account.

The Tesco exchange email states "you will receive an email from https://www.redspottedhanky.com with details of an e-voucher to redeem for UK rail tickets". I've received this email from redspottedhanky and the e-voucher is for £10.

OP, have you asked Redspottedhanky for an explanation?

They do have a premium rate phone number at £1.00 per minute, but SayNoTo0870 offers 01902 627981 as an alternative.

So far I've only emailed them but yet to hear back. Will call tomorrow if not got any further.
  • I have used Tesco Clubcard vouchers with Redspottedhanky several times over the past couple of months, without any problems at all. Each time I have converted a £10 Tesco voucher it has become a £30 e-voucher on Redspottedhanky. The original item on yesterday's MSE newsletter does refer to a free £10 voucher not loyalty points, so I think what you can see already is your free voucher - not your Tesco conversion. I suspect the Tesco conversions may not have been processed as quickly with everything else that was happening yesterday! Loyalty points are something you get once you have actually purchased and used tickets - 1 point for every pound spent. When you reach 100 points you get £1 off a ticket.

This is what it says on the MSE offer, hence why I thought it would be loyalty points. If that's what the e-voucher actually is then that's a bonus as I didn't think it had worked :)

"RedSpottedHanky will credit £10 to your account within 72 hours (it'll display as 1,000 loyalty points)."

The Redspottedhanky £10 giveaway does appear as an evoucher - not loyalty points (despite the wording of the offer).

So the mystery £10 evoucher is almost certainly the giveaway - nothing to do with the tesco exchange (I think)

There also appears to be a £5 evoucher for thanking them on facebook. I think....unless they have have made a mistake.

  • I exchanged my Tesco Vouchers for Red Spotted Hankie Vouchers but when I searched their site for a suitable train they could only find the most expensive ticets available which in this case was Cardiff to Edinburgh at £106.
When I used my previous Rail Ticket providor (Qjump) as a check I was quoted on the same departuretime a fare of £53.
When I queryied this (as a 75 year old Railway Enthusiast) with their unfriendly Customer service Representative I was told that this was the only train that they could book me on at their inflated prices. After many Emails to Tesco and RedspottedHankie I have had to admit that I had lost £40 through no fault of mine, but I have since learnt from Redspottedhankie that there is a simple solution as follows.
Firstly, go on line and decide how much you are going to pay.
    Secondly, check the Redspottedhankie price.
Thirdly, order your ticket from RSH using Vouchers and if your usual agent is cheaper Email his price to RSH and the should offer to refund you the difference in their Vouchers.
I got this from them today 3rd February 2013.
    The best of luck
