Second Chance Offers From eBay Shops

I Have recently found that if you find an auction item from an seller that has multiple listings of the same item then it is worth bidding the minimum price because often you will get a second chance offer (at your minimum bid price) when the auction ends.

I recently purchased a camera bag (I bid £15.00 - winning bid of £25.00 by A N Other - 2nd Chance offer at £15.00 from the seller) and some cotton reels (£2.00) in a similar manner.

It is well worth looking at sellers other items to check this out and give it a bash - after all if the seller is listing the "same" item 4 + times a day - there is always tomorrow as they are likly to have several boxes of said item.

Cheers

dont quote me on this but I didnt think it was the minimum bid price you get it for but thought it was the 'losing' bid price... i.e. if you are bidding against someone and you bid as follows:

    You - £0.99
    Them - £1.99
    You - £3.99
    Them - £5.99
    You - £6.99
    Them - £7.99

They win the item at £7.99 but you get offered it for £6.99...

    Hope i'm not confusing things??

Also, interestingly as a seller its worth looking at this tool as you dont pay a re-listing fee... Its not always taken up tho :) hth

Acid, If a seller has more than one of an item he can send out a second chance not just if he has a non paying bidder, and he can send out as many as he wants to all the non winners who have not opted out of receiving second chance offers.

I often use second chance offers when I have more than one item, it means I don't have to pay a listing fee to list them again. If the offer is taken up though you do have to pay the FVF and any paypal fees, if used.

If you stopped bidding at 3.99 or even 99p then the second chance offer COULD have been given at the highest bid you were prepared to pay. If you bid up to 6.99 then this was the HIGHEST you were PREPARED to pay - so the 2nd Chance offer was at this level.

It all depends on how many the seller is likely to have, if they use the 2nd Chance offer and how desperate you are to get the item quickly.

Yeah thats true, i just used the above scenario as an example, the seller can offer 'second chance offers' all the way down the bids too if he has more than one item, and like someone said it doesnt have to be because the highest bidder didnt pay!

better still, anyone who is still confused look at the official ebay info on the subject :D
