glasses and optician

Hi,

I purchased some rimless glasses from a local opticians almost 2 years ago, about 6 weeks ago I broke the left side arm/lens and went back to the shop to get it fixed and they told me to replace the lens and arm it would cost £60 which was fine so I paid up, I collected the repaired glasses about 4 weeks ago and from the moment I received then the arm that they fixed was constantly coming loose, and went back in twice in a space of 3 weeks to get them tightened, the last time they tightened it was about 10 days ago, on Tuesday i opened my glasses and went to put them on and they snaped by the bridge but on the actual lens, naturally I went back and said this is not on, as the old side that was not fixed and has been going strong for nearly 2 years did not break but the new side that has only just been a month and constant trouble has broken, the manager said I would have to pay another £60 and they do not guarentee lenses (there is nothing stating this by the way)

I also have another pair of very delicate rimless that I have had for over 5 years and not once have I broken them or had a problem with them, and now the manager is trying to say it it through my negligence rather than the rubbish materials and totally dismissing the fact that they only just fixed the side that is now broken and stating that is the risk people take when buying rimless (i do not expect it to break in a month though!) and the best part he also said "well you will just have to wear your spare" Geezz, thanks!

I popped into a david clulow and explained as I thought there may have been some kind of special glue that I couuld use rather than shelling out another £60 and they said that it is more than likely that the lens they used this time round was of a lesser quality which to me makes sense as if anything i would have expected the other side to be next to break rather than the side that was only 4 weeks old.

Please advise on what to do.

Many thanks
