A Master as usual! Tomcoyote says buy! - not free.

Nothing worked for me - tried Disk Frag - took over 2 hours hardly any difference. Still dead slow - slow - slow.

I'm Windows XP and on NTL Broadband

HijackThis is free - click the download button next to the flashing green icon on left hand side, not any other links.

Also bring up Task Manager (Ctrl Shift Esc keys at same time) - Processes tab and look for processes using high CPU (click CPU column heading to sort).

Once you have run HijackThis, copy and paste the file log into here http://www.hijackthis.de/ it should tell you if anything 'iffy' is running.

Wanted to get sorted tonight with your help. But - had few phone calls- had shower, washed hair, made chicken fried rice, (dropped it on the floor - not a good day!) came back to see all helpfull advice on MSE, thanks, I'm shattered, going to bed, have to sort it out in the morning. Thanks all

Have you got lots of files on your desktop? as these will get cached and slow your comp down.
