House v Shares

Sell my house for £250.000, buy other house for £250,000, OR purchase other house for £170.000, invest remainder of money in shares. Heard that last year shares outpaced house prices. Would like some suggestions please. many thanks.

Personally I think that house prices are going to continue to be eroded by inflation (5% pa) for at least the next 5 years.
I'm loading up on cheap, dividend paying shares and sticking cash into index-linked accounts.
However, I don't have a crystal ball so you shouldn't listen to me.0
