House v Shares

in House buying, renting & selling
Sell my house for £250.000, buy other house for £250,000, OR purchase other house for £170.000, invest remainder of money in shares. Heard that last year shares outpaced house prices. Would like some suggestions please. many thanks.

    Maybe post this on the Savings and Investment board rather than on this one.

    Personally I think that house prices are going to continue to be eroded by inflation (5% pa) for at least the next 5 years.

    I'm loading up on cheap, dividend paying shares and sticking cash into index-linked accounts.

    However, I don't have a crystal ball so you shouldn't listen to me.
